Leo and Abigail's Education Fund
Donation protected
Evan Freiberg, a long suffering Mets and Jets fan, met the love of his life, Felicia, in 2009. They got married and had a son, Leo, in December 2011 and a daughter, Abigail, in May 2015. #AmericanDream
In December 2015, when Abigail was just 7 months old, Evan was diagnosed with sarcoma and had his lower left leg amputated. In November 2016, it was determined to be metastatic leiomyosarcoma, a disease which has an 11 month survival expectancy. Despite his diagnosis, Evan continued living his life with joy and passion that was felt by everyone who encountered him. He fought cancer with everything he had, alternating chemotherapy and radiation with taking Abigail to tennis and gymnastics and cheering on Leo's baseball games and helping him with his homework. He founded Evan's Energy, a Cycle for Survival team that raised tens of thousands for rare cancer research. He inspired everyone who met him with his incredible strength of mind and body, fighting every day for more time with his family with every ounce of energy he had in him.
On September 22, 2021, Evan lost his hard-fought, five and a half year battle. He leaves behind these two amazing children, Leo and Abigail. Leo is an exuberant 9-year-old boy who has the same determination and joy for life as his dad (he's a bit smarter, though, as he's a Dodgers fan). He loves being with his friends, whether playing baseball or chatting with them on his iPad. Abigail is an imaginative, intelligent, and curious 6-year-old girl who loves gymnastics, dancing, monkey bars, and playing kitchen with her friends.
Just as Evan helped so many raising money for rare cancer research, please help us help his children with their future educational needs. No donation is too small.
