THE LENSCH FAMILY SURVIVAL FUND
My sister Dana and brother-in-law Michael Lensch have continuously struggled and strived to keep their family alive and financially above water but now they need your help!
On May 24, 2016 Michael was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic colon cancer. He has one mass in his colon, three masses in his liver and two masses in his lungs. He is also progressively going blind from diabetes. The day Michael was in the hospital waiting for the liver biopsy to be performed , he received a call from his employer saying that he was being let go. Finding out you have cancer and loosing your job all at the same time leaves you feeling very scared and full of anguish and disbelief.
Now having to pay for Cobra to keep the family health insurance active will cost $1800.00 a month. It's necessary to keep the current insurance since Michael's deductible and out of pocket have already been met and due to his high cost of current and future medical bills.
The insurance is also imperative for their son Bryan, who underwent a liver transplant with complications twenty eight years ago. Without his daily medication, Bryan would not survive and without this insurance his medications would be $2000.00 a month. The ongoing concerns for Bryan are his kidneys and his heart. His kidneys are only working at 50% capacity due to the medication he was given when first transplanted. His aortic root is enlarged and he is facing heart surgery in the future.
Dana has had many medical challenges, as well. The most recent was a very extensive cervical neck fusion, last June. Her vocal chords were damaged in the surgery and she was in and out of work for months. She eventually got most of her voice back but not 100%. Dana had also suffered with severe migraines her entire life and finally got relief when a hole in her heart was surgically closed, which is called a PFO closure. Prior to the heart surgery the doctors thought that Dana's migraines were due to sinusitis. The third sinus surgery, which was performed by drilling through her left frontal sinus cavity, revealed a bone which was blocking the sinus cavity and it was removed.
Dana and Michael are very grateful for their healthy twenty four year old son, Kyle. He has taken a very active role in researching alternative health options for his dad.
It has been decades of health struggles and financial burdens that actually caused the Lensch's to claim bankruptcy twenty five years ago, as they were buried under medical bills from Bryan's liver transplant. For so many years the family has worked hard to keep it together and to maintain a positive outlook.
Dana recently had to take family leave from work because Michael is now on hospice and he can't be left alone. He has no life insurance and Dana doesn't know how the medical insurance, medical bills, mortgage, food and everyday living expenses will be paid with the loss of Michael's job. The Lensch's can't do it alone any longer and help is desperately needed! For myself and my family members, we would all be forever grateful for what ever support you can provide.
We sincerely thank you.

Update: Our campaign will continue on even though Michael passed peacefully on October 1st, 2016.
