My name is Demetrick Mays Sr. With over 35 years of experience in social work and mentoring, I am frequently involved in community work or providing assistance to an elder. I also donate my time to the church dance ministry. Following the loss of my only child eight years ago, I have faced considerable difficulties. Now, as I struggle with vision loss due to a vehicle accident, I am seeking support. If I can raise enough funds to purchase a lens for my eye, I will be able to maintain my vision for a longer period and continue to contribute positively. I already lost complete vision in my right eye. I'm trying to save my left eye if possible. I attend a school for vision loss, called the Lighthouse, and I would like to raise funds to support them as well, as they provide much-needed assistance to many people with low vision loss. Although losing my son was extremely painful, losing my vision poses an even greater challenge. I'm only 50 years of age, and I planned on doing a lot more good on this earth before I leave.
