Lennox Needs Your Help: Heart Surgery
Donation protected
My close friend, Kendyl Culpepper, has shared her life with millions of people in an effort to make them laugh & to feel seen. She’s shared her struggles with schizophrenia and losing her father, along with the gut laughs from her mom’s reaction to having a “hand transplant.”
But now, Kendyl needs our support. After many failed attempts to conceive, Kendyl and her husband Jon are now expecting a baby boy this month. Recently, Kendyl & Jon got news that no parent wants to hear: their child, Lennox, has a congenital heart defect.
Lennox has been diagnosed with truncus arteriosus, a rare congenital heart condition. This means he has only one artery instead of the two that are needed to properly circulate blood through his body. Because of this, he will require open-heart surgery in Atlanta soon after birth.
Kendyl will be induced around 38-39 weeks so doctors can monitor him closely from the moment he arrives. The timing of his surgery will depend on how well his heart and lungs adjust after birth. If his body can manage the blood flow for a short period, the surgery may be scheduled a couple of weeks later—but if his lungs struggle, he may need it within just a few days.
Lennox will need at least two heart surgeries in his life. The first will correct his heart’s structure, but because the valve they place won’t grow with him, he’ll need another surgery as he gets bigger. The good news is that his existing artery is strong, large, and not leaking—giving him the best possible foundation for these procedures.
I am asking for support to help with their medical expenses, travel costs, and the time they will need to take off work to be by his side. Any donation, share, or prayer will mean the world to them as they prepare for this journey. Thank you for being part of Lennox’s fight!
