Dear Friends and Community Members,

I’m reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a hopeful spirit to support a remarkable individual who has dedicated his life to serving our community—Scott Carlson. On November 24, 2024, Scott faced an unforeseen medical setback when he suffered a stroke. While we are incredibly grateful that he survived, the journey ahead is filled with challenges that no one could have anticipated.

Scott has been a steadfast presence in our community, serving in various capacities for many years. He proudly worked for the Ironwood Fire Department and Ironwood Township Fire Department for 16 years, earning recognition as Firefighter of the Year by the State of Michigan. His dedication didn’t stop there; he also served in the City of Ironwood Sewer Department for 13 years, was an active member of the Marenisco Fire Department, participated in area search and rescue, hazmat, and even worked as a fire instructor. For years, Scott also played a vital role on Beacon Ambulance.

Never one to shy away from a call, Scott has always been there for others, often responding at all hours to save lives without complaint. He is a proud and resilient man, and it is painful to see him struggle now as he battles not only the physical effects of the stroke but also the emotional toll it has taken on him.

Scott's days now consist of facing the daunting reality of his recovery, where every minute feels like an eternity. The transition from a life of constant action to one of idleness is a struggle he never expected, and the financial impact of his lost income adds to the burden.

As his friend, I’ve witnessed Scott’s unwavering spirit and determination, and I know he will fight to regain his strength. But he needs our help.
