Hi there. If you are seeing this you know me somehow...so please trust that I'm my usual honest self, out here trying to help a true friend. You also know that typically I am a one-fundraiser-per-year kind of gal...and that big one just happened in December. But a dear, dear friend mustered huge courage, picked up the phone, sobbing in pain and said "I need help."
A healthcare worker with a huge heart, my friend has faced several unexpected and unrelated medical issues and surgical procedures within the same three months. Sick time is out and so paychecks are running thin with the red tape of possible disability claim still to be tackled. My friend asked me if I would do this: ask for a little help from a lot of people. For rent and basic needs for 4-6 weeks.
This is the kind of friend I know I could call in the middle of the night. Who would do anything for me or my family. Who lives with a giant heart and laughs with such delight that it is always contagious. Our healthcare system is a bit messed up -- that most people can't afford be sick, even if we work to help others be healthier. Our essential healthcare workers themselves often have to live paycheck to paycheck. (My friend forgot I have a degree in health policy and could write a LONG diatribe about this...)
Please consider a small gift. That is all my friend - and I - are asking. Thank you. May your goodwill come back to you when you need it most.
