Dear friends and strangers,
Early Wednesday night, our boy was run over after squeezing through our neighbours open gate. In a terrifying few seconds, his pelvis was crushed and shattered in two places which has left him unable to walk and in need of laparoscopic surgery. We are doing absolutely everything we can to cover the costs we have already endured with the imminent cost of surgery, but we need your help.
Attached is a cost breakdown,
His first admission, which included multiple doses of pain killers, two scans (X-rays and an ultrasound) and an overnight stay,
$1000
Additional pain medication given to him in the morning, as well as the pain-killers we were sent home with to manage his pain,
$813.90
A crate, puppy pads incase he defecated or piddled on himself during the night, and a new bed for the crate,
$181.98
As he did not urinate overnight, he had to be catheterised to empty his bladder to relieve his discomfort,
$73
The next day, he was taken in to be catheterised again, though was soon given a warm water enema as he was extremely constipated,
$236.05
His impending surgery will be, (at this stage, as it is tentatively booked for Tuesday, and he will more than likely stay the night in their kennels to recover,) starting at around $7,500
In total, this will cost us approximately $9,803 which does not include the upcoming costs of physical therapy and additional pain medications for when he gets back home after his surgery. As I’m sure so many people are, we are experiencing extreme financial hardship, and we are simply just unable to cover these costs without support.
A massive thank you to the Albury Family Vet Centre for taking such good care of our boy, as well as Nadine for your exceptional care.
