Lend a Prayer, a Paw, or Funds...Help Autumn

Hello my name is Kara. I'm doing this gofundme due to recent vet care needed for my kitty, Autumn. I've had the wonderful privilege of knowing Autumn since she was born. She is 10 years old and definitely my baby. She is a complete love bug and sleeps with me every night. Autumn loves playing with toys..her soccer ball and nerf duckie toys are by far her favorite! She also loves her treats..a lot! I've even taught her a trick, to pick which hand with her treats :). As with most cats, Autumn loves to lay in boxes that are a bit too small for her! She tends to show off her belly with her various poses she does, as well. She loves crawling under the covers and sleeping. Autumn has an amazing personality and is a talker for sure. Anytime I talk to her, she meows back..we have lots of talks between us!

Autumn has always been an extremely healthy cat. She has had issues occasionally with her stomach and vomiting. However, nothing a trip to the vet and some meds couldn't fix. The vet said it was most likely irritable bowl syndrome. The last instance of this was back in August of last year, which I decided to get blood work done to check up on things at that time. Everything came back great, except for possible kidney issues down the road. The vet mentioned that her one molar tooth was looking bad and might need to be removed in near future, if started causing her problems. She was doing great, with no stomach issues, up until her tooth started to bother her and cause difficulties eating.

On February 17th, I took her back into the vet to have her tooth rechecked. She was scheduled for the first surgery they had available for her tooth to be removed, which was on February 20th. Autumn did great coming out of surgery and in addition to her one molar, they decided to remove another molar that was starting to go bad on other side of her mouth. The vet said to avoid hard food for 3 weeks, which wasn't a problem cause Autumn loves her wet food just as much! She was doing great for the first two weeks after surgery.

It wasn't until Friday, March 7th that I started noticing that she wasn't feeling good. Over that weekend, Autumn wasn't eating as much but was drinking still. I called the vet Monday morning to get her in for an appointment to be seen. They had one available on Tuesday the 11th, which is when the vet noticed she had jaundice in her eyes and parts of her mouth. They gave her fluids and anti nausea meds. They ran a test for her liver enzymes which didn't come back till Wednesday. It was then that I was told her liver enzymes were extremely elevated and she needed immediate inpatient care. I was able to get her to VRC that day, where they examined her and said she needed emergency care and was admitted for inpatient care. They ran CBC blood work, did an ultrasound on her abdomen and performed a biopsy on her liver and gallbladder. Her blood work was overall good (they didn't recheck her liver enzymes), her liver looked normal on ultrasound and liver biopsy came back ok. Her pancreas showed signs of pancreatitis on the ultrasound. And her gallbladder and bile ducts showed signs of sludge like material. I'm still waiting on the results of the biopsy for her gallbladder yet. Autumn was kept on continuous IV fluids and actually ate some food a few times for them while she was there. They also started her on antibiotics awhile. On Friday March 14th, the vet gave me the results they had received so far and told me he felt good enough for me to take her home till the other results came back. They sent her home with anti nausea meds and an appetite stimulant. She's continuing on the antibiotics until the results come back.

It was a somewhat difficult weekend, she is by no means better, but it was good to be able to have her with me again. She ate some on Saturday but Sunday was a bit more of a struggle. This morning my regular vet called me to check up on how Autumn was doing, which in turn they wanted me to bring her to be seen. She was given subcutaneous fluids and a list of possible meds to be put on depending what the vet at VRC determines would be best for Autumn. She ate a little bit after coming home from the vet. I reached out to VRC, however the vet handling her care was not in the office today. They will hopefully be contacting me tomorrow.

I was very fortunate to have someone let me borrow the money needed to get Autumn's recent care. There's no way I could've afforded the cost of all this treatment. Depending on the outcome of next set of results, there may be more testing needed or possibly another round of inpatient care. I will always do anything and everything I can for my babies..and it broke my heart when there was a moment where I wasn't sure that I could help her. I've had other instances when there was nothing more I could do for my other babies cause I was out of options for anything to help them. For once, there are still options available, and for Autumn I'm willing to do anything I can to raise funds to help me repay what I currently owe and help cover future costs for her treatment. This has been the longest week of my life and so heart breaking to see her in this condition. I wish that I could take all her pain away and have her back to being her carefree, playful self. But I'm remaining hopeful that she will pull through all this. I'm extremely grateful for the amazing care she received while she stayed at VRC and for the internal medicine vet, Dr. Guinan, who ended up in charge of her care. Also the initial vet, Dr. Lozada, who admitted Autumn, for her kindness, understanding, and compassion. Any prayers during this time are greatly appreciated. I will keep updating as I get any more info regarding her results and also letting everyone know how she's doing. Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this and for any prayers, as they are much needed right now.

**Update** 3/18
I received a call from Dr. Guinan at VRC, Autumn's gallbladder came back showing no signs of bacteria or infection. While this is good news, it also leaves no explanation to why she is so sick and jaundice has since gotten worse. I have an appt with my regular vet tomorrow to get her CBC and liver enzymes rechecked and for her to receive more fluids. He doesn't want to start her on any other meds yet, pending results of the blood work. Autumn had a better day yesterday and most of today since having the fluids early Monday. She even played with her soccer ball :). I can tell that the fluids are definitely helping her to some degree and will possibly be starting home treatment of fluid therapy as well. I want to thank everyone who has started to follow Autumn's journey, for the first donation today and especially for all the prayers! I will be trying to get a link on here so I can have more pictures of Autumn..I have quite the collection on my phone! And will be updating everyone soon.
