Our Gary was born in September 2019. His Mom was a pregnant stray, petite bobtail cat. My friend took her in and Anna (mom) gave birth to 3 male kittens. One died at birth, one healthy (Buford), and Gary was born with the umbilical cord around his back foot. Gary lost his foot at 4 days old .
Our family chose to adopt Gary, as we knew he was special, and let's face it many wouldn't consider him the pick of the litter. He slowly adapted and could do almost anything, and with his quirky personality he fit perfectly with our quirky family ❤. Unfortunately his little nub began causing him issues, and between August 2020 and now he's had 3 surgeries, and many veterinary visits. He's been crated while wearing a cone for weeks at a time (strict bed rest), as he is now. We're just heart broken that his quality of life is a constant roller coaster. His natural playful ways are restricted, forbidden at times, and a hopefully LAST surgery he needs is very expensive. His surgery Christmas day unveiled an infection in his bone just below the knee. He requires a full amputation to the hip. Although watching him learn to walk yet again and crating him is overwhelming and so hurtful, Gary deserves quality of life, and to be without pain. He's a cool cat, a fighter, and a true survivor. He inspires us to persevere and not give up.
