Meet my Uncle Chris,
He’s one of the strongest, most creative people I know—and he’s been through more than most of us could imagine.
Uncle Chris was diagnosed with a highly aggressive form of prostate cancer, with a Gleason score above 10—the highest possible. Though his prostate was removed, the cancer had already spread. He underwent intense hormone therapy for two years, followed by as much radiation as his body could withstand on his pelvic floor area. Since then, he’s been tested every six months, and by the grace of God, there has been no further cancer growth.
But the journey hasn’t ended there.
Due to the radiation damage, Chris now lives with significant complications. His bladder no longer functions properly, forcing him to wear diapers at night and catheterize himself daily. It’s exhausting, painful, and emotionally draining. He’s currently undergoing additional testing, but the damage is likely permanent.
Last year, his health insurance dropped coverage for St. Jude—his hospital—meaning he would have lost access to all five of his trusted doctors. These are the people who have walked this entire journey with him. Thankfully, his new job provides a special insurance plan that allows him to continue treatment at St. Jude and keep the care team he knows and trusts. But there’s a major tradeoff: his take-home pay is just \$500 a week.
Despite everything, he chose his health and his doctors over financial comfort, and he doesn’t regret that decision. But now, the financial weight is becoming overwhelming.
In addition to the normal cost of living, Chris is burdened with the cost of diapers, medical supplies, hospital co-pays, and the debt he accumulated during treatment—car loans and credit card bills just to get through it all. He’s doing everything he can to stay afloat, but it’s not enough.
Our goal is to raise \$25,000 to help Uncle Chris eliminate his debt so he can focus on healing and living with dignity—not just surviving.
This isn’t easy for him to ask for. And it’s not easy for me to write. But if you’re able to help in any way—by donating or simply sharing—our family would be incredibly grateful.
Thank you so much for reading and supporting.
