It's March and Travler has entered another phase in rebuilding his health.
After more than 40 days in the hospital (2 weeks in ICU!), Travler went to In-patient Physical Rehabilitation Hospital and then on March 7 (yes oddly 2 months from the date he went to the ER on January 7); Travler begins recuperation at home! With two weeks at home he continues to have nurses and physical therapy and occupational therapy every other day.
He has appointments with his Wound Care doctor and also follow ups with his surgeons and the Interventional Radiologist. He continues to have the wound vac for his abdominal wounds and also the drain for the abscesses as well as blood thinner (Eliquis- at $500 for a month supply).
He is working everyday to regain his health and mobility. That is his primary focus for the next couple months; if you are a 80's movies watcher then you know it is like a "training sequence" as he rebuilds.
He has not been cleared to return to work. The medical bills are incredible- even with insurance and savings! This is a second start to life, a miracle in many ways and a huge cost financially. If you can help out and invest in this phase, while Travler gets stronger- it would be a significant help!
Travler will go back to see the Intervential Radiologists in a month and hopes the abscesses have shrunk enough that the drain can be removed. That will be a big step and the next will be when the wound heals enough for the wound vac to be removed; it is a little machine that keeps the fluid out of the wound so that it heals quicker.
Your continued presence on this journey provides the support needed- thank you for being with us.
We will be including a few pictures to celebrate how far Travler has come- and it is your support has been a big part of this.
We are all-in for Travler and cheering steady progress!
