Hello, my name is Melissa and for the past few years I have had an up and down battle with stage 3 breast cancer. It has been a bumpy road due to my underlining illnesses I was already battling…including lupus, coronary artery disease, and severe anemia. My treatment continually stopped due to my already very low white blood cell counts being taken down even more by the chemotherapy. I have ended up hospitalized countless times over the past few years and most recently for nuetropeney which is when I became on the verge of sepsis. While in the hospital I learned that they found masses in my lungs, liver, abdomen, and also my brain. Overwhelmed is an under statement. My whole adult life I dedicated to my child Jordan. I centered my entire life around him. I never missed a game or a school event. I volunteered and I traveled every weekend for various tournaments. Now I am struggling to walk down the block. The treatment has taken every bit of energy I have. I created this GoFundMe hoping for the generosity of others to help me navigate through this dark time. I really want to focus on willing myself back to health and put my focus on that as opposed to worrying about financial expenses. The stress is really taking a toll on me. I am always going to hope for a positive outcome from this disease and having to not be as worried about being able to care for myself will definitely help with that mindset.
