My name is Jesse Maier. I’ve been out as transgender since I was thirteen (the beginning of 2017). I was lucky enough, with the help of my wonderful doctors, to start hormones in November of 2020. I moved out shortly after that, and things got really rough. Moving out with no savings, at a minimum wage job, at the age of seventeen really screwed up the trajectory of my life. But I got it together & I got into kitchens and throughout everything, it really saved me. I’ve spent the last five years of my life playing catch up & working towards setting up a good future for myself, even working as many as three jobs at once, to try and get ahead. But I’m twenty two now, and I’m finally in a place where I can do more than just catch up- I can move forward. And to me that means meeting the biggest goal in my life thus far- top surgery. Between the costs of the actual surgery, and the time I’ll be out of work during my recovery, I’ll need to save about five grand.

I’m putting aside as much as I can afford every month to work towards this goal, but the faster I can get there, the better.
