Hello my name is Gladys Herrera and I have three beautiful kids whom all have distinctive congenital defects. It was a journey from the start with my oldest (now 8 years old) who was born with tetralogy of Fallot and has had 3 open heart surgeries since birth. She is now better but we follow up with cardiologist. My middle child (6 yrs old) was born with a double aortic arch and he had one surgery to remove that extra arch. My now 2 year old toddler was born with a genetic condition which caused her to have low muscle tone and has tachycardia. We have been in and out of the hospital because of her frequent pneumonias and infections/fevers. It has been a journey and they are what have made our family strong. I have not worked since having my children so that I can be able to be at every appointment with different doctors, and to be here while we have had multiple long hospital admissions.
