A HEART OF GOLD AMIDST THE SHADOW OF STAGE IV KIDNEY CANCER
Evelyn, a single woman of 58, is resilient despite numerous life circumstances in her favor. She was diagnosed with stage IV kidney cancer and began receiving chemotherapy four weeks ago. Unfortunately, she is not in a position to work anymore. Since then, she has been living on short-term disability with her financial resources tight like never before. Evelyn has her own personal health crisis on top of huge familial duties. She is a committed caregiver for her elderly mother living next door, which consumes other layers of commitment to the time she already spends daily. Additionally, she is raising her grandson to provide him a better educational opportunity, even further proving her dedication with the next addition to her family. Another layer of grief is added to her struggles of life: her father passed away just over a year ago. Having made it this far through the extreme hardship, Evelyn remains a remarkably bright spirit. Evelyn has a heart of gold, succeeded at having a positive outlook on everything, and is willing to give others a hand in their time of need. I had intentions of taking her to lunch, and the little cafe we went to did not accept credit/debit cards, and I never have cash on hand. Evelyn took her last $20 bucks and paid for us both. Evelyn has a positive outlook on everything and is willing to give others and never carrying in their time of need. Her warm and approachable nature is such that 'to know her is to love her; she connects with others effortlessly, 'never meeting a stranger'. The fact of stage IV kidney cancer diagnosis and the financial burden that comes with it, paint a sad backdrop to Evelyn’s present-day situation; however, her intrinsic strength, her utter commitment to her family and friends, and her unwavering positive attitude are the type of sturdy testimonies to how even when the possibility of light is the most absent, the human spirit can find some. Unsurprisingly, her persistence is additionally illuminated by her fundamental capacity to love and her generally positive point of view on life.
Please, if you have it in your heart, any donation would be extremely helpful during this difficult time she has been faced with. $1 or $10 or whatever God lays on your heart will be sincerely appreciated. Also, all the prayers we can toss up will be much appreciated. I know without a doubt in store, Evelyn would do the same for anyone else.
