Lend a Hand to Camrae's Recovery Efforts

Hi, my name is Jaylyn Schakel, and I’m reaching out to share the story of my sister, Camrae Schakel, who has recently fallen very ill. Camrae was rushed to the ER when she began struggling to breathe and was quickly admitted to the ICU for a severe case of pneumonia. To make matters worse, they discovered bacteria in her blood, and with her existing asthma, she couldn’t breathe on her own. The doctors had to intubate her and put her into a medically induced coma to give her body a chance to heal.
Thankfully, she’s shown some improvement, and her lungs are clearing up. However, the doctors have kept the breathing tube in place just to be cautious, as they want to avoid removing it and having to reintubate if she takes a step back. Unfortunately, last night, her heart experienced a serious issue, causing her to go into cardiac arrest. The medical team had to use a defibrillator to bring her back. Right now, she is heavily sedated to keep her as comfortable and calm as possible.
We’re starting this fundraiser to help support her when she eventually leaves the hospital. There will be medical bills, rent, food, and other expenses that will need to be covered as she works to recover. We want to make sure she has some stability and a foundation to return to once she's out of the hospital. Any contribution, big or small, would mean the world to us and to Camrae.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any support you can provide. It truly means more than we can express.
