Lend a Hand for Larry's Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
For those of you who know Larry, you know that he is an amazing person who would give a stranger the shirt off of his back, and defend and protect the helpless. He is a die-hard Raiders fan, enjoys playing the drums, and is a husband, father, brother, son, and friend.
In the early morning of December 31, 2021, when Larry was leaving for dialysis, Larry’s now-wife, Stacia, heard him calling her from downstairs. When she arrived, she noticed Larry laying on the floor; he had apparently hit his head on the table and his face was drooping and his speech was a bit slurred. Stacia immediately called 911, and when the ambulance arrived, they confirmed that Larry had a stroke and was taken to the emergency room. After the doctors had completed some tests, they found out that Larry had suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and had lost feeling and movement on the left side of his body.
Due to some of Larry’s existing medical conditions, it was very difficult to stop the bleeding in his brain; doctors didn’t think he was going to make it, but by God’s grace, he did. He was in a coma for two weeks and then was transferred to a convalescent home where he remained for 6 months. During this time, he was only able to eat through a feeding tube and has since had to re-learn how to eat and drink.
Once he returned home, he was able to participate in physical/occupational therapy, but his insurance only covered seven sessions. Over the last several months, Larry has made great improvements—he is now able to slowly move his left leg and slightly move his left hand, but he still has a long recovery journey ahead and a significant amount of medical bills and expenses to pay.
Larry’s family has set up this GoFundMe page to help with the medical expenses, as they are unable to afford the care he needs. They are hoping to raise $150,000 to cover the cost of medical bills, therapy sessions, and the necessary equipment to help Larry recover and regain his independence.
Your support is greatly appreciated and would go toward helping Larry recover. He is strong and very determined that he will walk down the aisle for his and Stacia’s wedding celebration in November.
May God bless all that are able to help. Thank you!
