Lena ist 8 Jahre alt geworden – und braucht weiterhin unsere Unterstützung

Vor einem Jahr haben wir um Unterstützung für Lena aus Kisumu in Kenia gebeten. Viele Menschen haben geholfen – dafür sind wir von Herzen dankbar.

Am Dienstag ist Lena 8 Jahre alt geworden. Leider ist ihr Kampf gegen die Krankheit noch nicht vorbei.

Seit mehr als einem Jahr wird Lena wegen einer schweren Erkrankung behandelt, die zu sehr niedrigen Blutplättchenwerten führt. Im Januar dieses Jahres übernahm das Krankenhaus die Kosten ihrer Behandlung. Darunter zeigte sich zunächst eine deutliche Verbesserung ihres Gesundheitszustands.

Leider benötigt Lena auch weiterhin regelmäßige Untersuchungen, Infusionen und medizinische Betreuung. Nach aktuellem Stand vermuten die behandelnden Ärzte eine Immunthrombozytopenie (ITP), eine Erkrankung, bei der das Immunsystem die eigenen Blutplättchen angreift.

Lena lebt mit ihrem Zwillingsbruder Liam, ihrer Schwester Mercy und ihren Eltern Jenipher und James. Sie liebt die Schule, verbringt gerne Zeit mit ihren Freunden und träumt davon, einfach wieder unbeschwert Kind sein zu können.

Die Kosten für Untersuchungen, Medikamente, Infusionen und Fahrten zum Krankenhaus stellen für die Familie weiterhin eine große Belastung dar.

Deshalb bitten wir erneut um Unterstützung. Jede Spende – egal in welcher Höhe – hilft Lena dabei, die medizinische Versorgung zu erhalten, die sie benötigt.

Il y a un an, nous avons lancé un appel à l'aide pour Lena, une petite fille de Kisumu au Kenya. De nombreuses personnes lui ont apporté leur soutien et nous leur en sommes profondément reconnaissants.

Mardi, Lena a fêté son 8ᵉ anniversaire. Malheureusement, son combat contre la maladie n'est pas terminé.

Depuis plus d'un an, elle reçoit un traitement pour une maladie qui provoque un taux très faible de plaquettes sanguines. En janvier, l'hôpital a pris en charge les frais de son traitement. Son état de santé s'est alors nettement amélioré.

Cependant, Lena a toujours besoin d'examens réguliers, de perfusions et d'un suivi médical continu. Selon les informations actuellement disponibles, les médecins soupçonnent une thrombopénie immunitaire (PTI/ITP), une maladie dans laquelle le système immunitaire détruit les propres plaquettes du patient.

Lena vit avec son frère jumeau Liam, sa sœur Mercy et ses parents Jenipher et James. Elle aime l'école, passer du temps avec ses amis et rêve simplement de pouvoir profiter pleinement de son enfance.

Les frais liés aux examens, aux médicaments, aux perfusions et aux déplacements vers l'hôpital représentent toujours une lourde charge pour sa famille.

C'est pourquoi nous faisons une nouvelle fois appel à votre générosité. Chaque don, quel qu'en soit le montant, aide Lena à poursuivre les soins dont elle a besoin.

One year ago, we asked for support for Lena from Kisumu, Kenya. Many people responded with generosity and kindness, and for that we are deeply grateful.

On Tuesday, Lena celebrated her 8th birthday. Unfortunately, her fight against illness is not over yet.

For more than a year, Lena has been receiving treatment for a serious condition that causes very low platelet counts. In January, the hospital covered the cost of her treatment, and her condition improved significantly.

However, Lena still requires regular examinations, infusions, and ongoing medical care. Based on the information currently available, her doctors suspect Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP), a condition in which the immune system attacks the body's own platelets.

Lena lives with her twin brother Liam, her sister Mercy, and her parents Jenipher and James. She loves school, enjoys spending time with her friends, and dreams of simply being able to enjoy her childhood again.

The costs of examinations, medication, infusions, and travel to the hospital continue to place a heavy burden on her family.

We therefore ask for your support once again. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps Lena access the medical care she needs.
