Len Johnrose Trust MNDA
Donation protected
Hi I am Eden,
Just after my 16th birthday I will be doing a tandem skydive on the 20th November at North West Parachute Centre, to raise awareness and money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association / the Len Johnrose Trust.
Len Johnrose has been a close family friend for many years. In 2017, Len was diagnosed with motor neurone disease. Since then, he has worked closely with the MND Association to raise funds and awareness of the disease.
In 2018, after revealing his diagnosis on BBC Radio Lancashire, two lifelong friends set up The Len Johnrose Trust to help Len achieved his goal to raise awareness, and to live as full a life as possible.
Len had a very successful professional football career, which spanned nearly 20 years. He made around 500 first-team appearances for clubs such as Blackburn Rovers, Swansea City, Burnley and Bury FC.
What is MND?
According to the MND Association, motor neurone disease (MND) describes a group of diseases that affect the nerves (motor neurones) in the brain spinal cord that tell your muscles what to do.
With MND, messages from the motor neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles. This leads the muscles to weaken, stiffen and waste. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Some people also experience changes to their thinking and behaviour. However, MND affects everyone differently. Not all symptoms will affect everyone, or in the same order. Symptoms also progress at varying speeds, which makes the course of the disease difficult to predict.
MND is life-shortening and there is NO CURE at the moment. Although the disease will progress, symptoms can be managed to help achieve the best possible quality of life
What I hope the money I raise will do?
All of the money that I raise will help fund research to find a cure for MND and to give people suffering with the disease a better quality of life.
Any support you can give would be greatly appreciated
Thank you,
Eden Turley.
