My dad started feeling ill in Dec this year. On the 19th of December he started itching all over and thought maybe he was having an allergic reaction to Nexium he had just started taking for his stomach. He decided to call the doctor on the 21st and they got him in that day. They did urinalysis and blood work. The doctor called him back on the 22nd to let him know that his levels showed he had jaundice and that it could be pancreatitis caused by a stone and that he needed to go to ER if he was hurting. He wasn't hurting at that time and didn't want to end up in the hospital on Christmas so he decided to wait. Christmas Day he started feeling really nauseated and weak. December 26th he finally decided to the go to the ER. They did blood work and CT Scan. This is when they discovered a 5cm tumor in the head of the pancreas that was pushing on the bile duct causing blockage. The doctor said it looks to be cancer. They transferred him to a different hospital to be admitted and do a biopsy. This was a complete shock to our entire family. My dad has always been healthy. Not a drinker or a smoker. He didn't have his first surgery till he was 61 to remove his gallbladder. The 27th they placed a stent in to fix the blockage in the bile duct. On the 28th they will do a EUS to see if it has spread and also do a biopsy. My dad has always been the one doing for everyone else. When I need something I know he's only a phone call away. Their insurance will start over in January, which means a new deductible to meet. I want my dad to be able to focus on his health right now and not worry about the financial part of this. He is the bread winner for the family as my mom is not able to work due to her health.  Any amount you can give will be helpful. Please keep my parents and my family in your prayers!
