Aleksandra's Ballet Dreams

Dear Family and Friends,

I'm Aleksandra and I love ballet. I have been dancing since the age of 2. When I was a little girl my mom would read me stories about The Nutcracker and I would dream about dancing as Clara but I knew that it would take hard work to get there. At the age of 5, I got to dance as a Gingerbaby (I'm the little girl in purple).

At 8 and 9 I got to dance as a Party Girl, and last year at the age of 10 my dream finally came true! I performed as Clara on the big stage at the Fox Valley Performing Arts Center.

As I danced among the girls who were in the Makaroff Youth Ballet Company, I began to dream about the day that I would be asked to join the company. I worked hard; began attending ballet classes 4-5 times a week. I even started on pointe shoes! My dream came true this past November when I became the youngest girl to be asked to join the company. I then began to dream bigger for my dancing career. My teacher told me about ballet summer intensives and I knew I needed to audition.

This past January I auditioned for The Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive program in Chicago and won a spot in their program!!! The program will be in June-July and I will live on campus for three weeks. I want to go so that I can continue to improve as a ballerina and keep working to maybe one day be a prima ballerina: Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker!

Your donation* will help cover the cost of tuition, training, and lodging for the 3-week intensive. I will be training from 9 am to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
