As you know India is being severely hit by the pandemic, the whole country needs our help at all levels: be it medical supplies or help to care for people who have lost their relatives.
At a time where things are easing up in the UK, I'd like to direct the help for pandemic relief to this country which really needs it.
Some of you might know I'm a very keen cyclist, and my love for cycling has doubled during the pandemic. It gave me the stress relief I needed, ended up being my way to keep some form of social life, and to not feel 'stuck' between 4 walls or within a country that I call home but far from my family. I'd like to leverage what I love to help others.
Starting May 31st, I'll be starting LeJog i.e. Lands End to John O' Groat, a [phone redacted] mile journey from Cornwall to the tip of Scotland, with my French sidekick Floriane.
This is a self-funded and unsupported ride, which details are yet to be finalised, but it highly likely to end in a bikepacking/camping trip of 12 days.
When you undertake a physical challenge, having a strong goal and feeling supported makes a GINORMOUS difference in the toughest conditions. I'd be grateful if you could support me in this journey to help a country that is going through a dramatic situation.
Being a foreigner, I understand how it feels to be far from your family, but I can't think how tough it must be for my very close Indian friends who live in the UK, to be so far away from their loved ones. And certainly how tough it must be on the ground for the people back there.
Donations will be going to Americares India, a partner of the WPP Foundation who is providing help and support to communities, health workers and dedicated COVID-19 facilities (more info can be found here: https://www.americaresindia.org/wppcovid/ )
WPP is joining me in this effort, matching my/our(!) donation for up to £1,000.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
