Leila Christensen Memorial
Donation protected
I am Leila Christensen's law school classmate.
As some of you might know, a little while after Leila Christensen passed away giving birth to her baby boy, Sky Pepe, Leila’s husband, went missing. Joseph, the baby, was being taken care of by Leila's parents.
They recently found out what happened to him and a funeral service will be held this Saturday, March 19th at 10:00 a.m. at the LDS church at 1100 East Grand in Cameron Missouri.
A fisherman found his body at Cabrillo Beach, CA on 12/31/2014 with no identification. He was unidentified until 12/09/2015--almost one year later--when his brother George was notified that he was a John Doe who they found in the ocean. No autopsy was done. Meanwhile, everyone was searching for him.
Joseph, their son, is 2 years old and lives with Leila’s parents who have guardianship of him and will now fully adopt little Joseph.
I know many of us haven’t known how we could contribute so Tricia Dills had the idea of putting together a GoFundMe campaign that would go directly to Shannon Christensen, Leila’s mother. I worked with Shannon to get her bank account information on this GoFundMe campaign so anything will be directly deposited into her account.
They have incurred considerable time in the search for Sky, Leila’s funeral expenses, now Sky’s funeral expenses, and attorneys’ fees in the temporary and permanent guardianship, and now the full-fledged adoption.
Last week, Chelsea Dye, another classmate, went out and visited little Joseph and Leila's mom in Missouri and posted an update. It kept bothering me that I didn't know how I could help or contribute. Now we have a way to pitch in and contribute.
Any help would be appreciated. Shannon Christensen has exclusive withdrawal rights on the money raised by this campaign. I will share Shannon's email address on the Facebook Group because you are not supposed to publish email addresses here.
