Hello,
My sister Leighza was in a horrific accident on Thursday, June 11th but she wasn’t found until Saturday.
We don’t know exactly what happened, but she was found outside with hypothermia, covered in bruises, and massive edema. The police believe she was picked up on Thursday, was in a severe car accident, and then was dropped off in a shed on her roommates property in Anacortes.
She is in the ICU currently at UW. She has Rhabdomyolysis, which means her muscles atrophied from lack of movement causing an excessive amount of myoglobin to be released. Myoglobin is too large to be properly passed through the kidneys so it accumulated there and basically clogged her kidneys. They are currently low functioning, which is why she is in the ICUin case she needs to be put on dialysis.
Along with this, she has major wounds allover her body, worst being her head and face. Her eyes are swollen shut, and her nose is broken. She is unrecognizable.
At this time she is stable, but in a lot of pain. She cannot walk, and the doctors haveno clear time frame as to when she will be allowed to leave the hospital, let alone get back to work as a welder.
So, I am hoping to raise money for her during this extremely tough time.
My sister is the most resilient person I know. I know she will pull through this, but she would greatly benefit from any financial help.
She has not seen pictures of herself, but gave me permission to share some. So please be cautious in what you send to her, she does not want to see herself until she is healed and we all need to respect that.
Thank you,
