Leighton is the daughter of Brian and Constance Driskill, Granddaughter of Bo and Glenda Walters and Tesia and David Bloebaum. In February of 2017, at 6 months old, Leighton was diagnosed with AV Canal Defect. She has a large hole in the septum dividing the top two chambers of her heart. She also has a smaller hole in the septum of the bottom two chambers of her heart, as well as, a "cleft valve". This is allowing oxygen rich blood and oxygen poor blood to mix. In turn, her heart is being overworked and causing her not to gain weight. They had anticipated surgery to be done sometime in the fall of 2017 but because of the severity of the hole, surgery has been moved up to May 22nd.
