Hi my name is Leia and I’m a 5 year old shepherd mix rescue from Shelter Hope Pet Shop. I am a high energy, active, and playful dog who loves to run around the hills and beaches of California.

Because of my active lifestyle I was diagnosed with Disc Disease in February of 2021, a month before my 5th birthday. I have been unable to walk, run, or participate in any of my daily activities due to my disease and had to have spinal surgery to release the compressed discs blocking the signals from my brain to the lower half of my body.

I am currently in recovery and trying my best to adapt to my new, slow paced lifestyle. My recovery won’t be easy, but I am hoping to one day return to my active lifestyle of going on walks, hiking, and playing with other dogs.

Any help from my dog lovers and supporters will help me through this process and help me recover some of the costs of my surgery and physical therapy.
