Financial support cushion needed for a dear XR Canada member who has been fighting the good (non-violent) fight for over a year now. The stress has taken a toll. Please, let’s show her we are grateful for the effort she has put in, and send some love in the form of financial support while she recovers from stress. Her plan going forward, is to take care of her health so that she’ll be ok. Thank you
[Daphnée Azoulay is a poet, translator, computational researcher and French teacher from Quebec, residing since three years in Abegweit / Prince Edward Island. She founded the Extinction Rebellion group on PEI in November 2018 and the separate 'Extinction Rebellion PEI Affinity Group' in September 2019.]

WHAT IS EXTINCTION REBELLION?
Extinction Rebellion was started in the UK by a group of activists called Rising Up! which was founded in 2016 to build capacity for local groups engaging in Non Violent Direct Action for social change, including Compassionate Revolution, Earth First! Occupy, Plan Stupid, Radical Think Tank and Reclaim the Power.
In May of 2018 Rising Up! Starting giving talks around the UK titled “Heading For Extinction and What To Do About It” and organizing training in Non-Violent Direct Action (NVDA), gathering people who wanted to join the Extinction Rebellion campaign and preparing them to engage in peaceful civil disobedience. From May to October of 2018 they gave approximately 65 talks to over 1,500 people, resulting in 300 people who were willing to risk their personal liberty for urgent climate action.
On Oct 31, 2018 the group made an open Declaration of Rebellion against the UK government in Parliament Square, followed by a major action on Nov 17, 2018 when they simultaneously, peacefully occupied 5 major bridges in central London in an epic Rebellion Day, celebrating all life on this planet! Since then, XR continues to expand rapidly across the UK, and has recently gained traction globally, with over 200 groups organizing in and taking action with XR to demand swift action in the face of climate collapse.

Working actively to create safer and more accessible spaces.
7. WE ACTIVELY MITIGATE FOR POWER
Breaking down hierarchies of power for more equitable participation
8. WE AVOID BLAMING AND SHAMING
We live in a toxic system, but no one individual is to blame.
9. WE ARE A NON-VIOLENT NETWORK
Using nonviolent strategy and tactics as the most effective way to bring about change.
10. WE ARE BASED ON AUTONOMY AND DECENTRALISATION
We collectively create the structures we need to challenge power. Anyone who follows these core principles and values can take action in the name of RisingUp!
