I'm raising funds for my brother-in-law, Salvador Calderas Lopez, after he was detained by ICE outside the Waldorf Silver Diner parking lot on October 26 at 6:10 AM. He was taken without a warrant or reason, and our family has been left trying to navigate an urgent and painful situation. Salvador is a great dad and a valued member of the community.
Upon arriving at the parking lot, officers in unmarked vehicles arrested him within 10 minutes of him exiting his vehicle. He was then held in the vehicle for hours until our family received a call from the Baltimore holding facility around noon. By the afternoon, Salvador informed us that he was being transferred to the Farmville Detention Center in Virginia until his hearing date.
Salvador's 11-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son are now without contact with their father. They have been crying endlessly, asking why he was taken, and they are having difficulty focusing in class. On top of the emotional toll on his children, our family is facing severe financial hardship as we try to do everything possible to fight for him.
The funds raised will help pay for lawyer fees, bond if it is granted, and related legal costs. We are fighting for Salvador's release with a bond and for cancellation of removal so he can remain in the country and adjust his status after 19 years here.
We urgently need this support before his first master hearing on November 17 so he can have legal representation in place and a real chance to fight his case. Any donation or share would mean so much to our family and help Salvador get the support he needs right now. Thank you for standing with him and with the children who need their father home.
