While her care at Leeds General Infirmary was excellent, the events in Scarborough where she was initially treated, raise a lot of questions.
After falling and hitting her head, an ambulance was immediately called. She was left waiting for a full hour when it became clear that the ambulance was not coming, and had to be driven to the hospital by car. Once at the nearest hospital in Scarborough, she was not given the urgency and priority of treatment her injuries demanded but she was also dealt with in an inadequate fashion. The Emergency Department at Scarborough General Hospital reacted poorly. There was no sense of urgency when Deborah arrived, no immediate prioritization, poor monitoring and assessment in triage, poor care thereafter.
As is standard procedure in England, an inquest was opened to investigate the actions taken after the accident, merely to provide a blueprint for accountability. While this inquest is done by a 3rd party, the interests of both the ambulance company and hospital will be represented, and we want to make sure that a legal representation is there to advocate for Deborah, to hold both of these companies accountable.
This is not a lawsuit, this is merely to ensure that someone can speak for Deborah during the inquest, which of course will cost money. We are so grateful for any help with the legal fees, and that both the ambulance company and the hospital are held to task for their actions.
Thank you, and much love,
Angela, Anthony, and Wieslaw
