I’m raising funds for one of our dear friends and her family as they face an urgent immigration crisis. Her child’s father who is Arab is at risk of deportation, and time is running short before his hearing in November.

He was brought to the United States as a child and previously had legal status with proper paperwork. After 9/11, his documents were confiscated under the NSEERS program, and he has never been able to get them back. Even after submitting the required forms and fees to move his case forward, he remains stuck in limbo through no fault of his own. He and his wife tried to pursue his citizenship after getting married, but because of the system being backlogged, they have been unable to make any progress.

This has put their family in an impossible position. He has been denied a work permit, and he has also been told that his driver’s license will not be renewed next year. On top of that, he is recovering from major surgery after a serious workplace injury and has been unable to work for months.

He is a devoted father who is law-abiding and hardworking, and his family should not be facing this alone. Donations will go toward the legal fees needed to fight his case before the November hearing and give this family a fair chance to stay together.
