Legal funding for defamation lawsuit
Donation protected
this is a fundraiser to cover legal costs for Dimitri Nana Cote (aka Kiara), Emerson Sanderson (aka Denim Pussy) and Daph Schryve (aka Artsy Busy).
After releasing denunciations on our socials, we are facing a defamation lawsuit in the Court case number 500-17-119087-214. as we undertake to not publicly make other comments about our denunciations, we are unable to go into extensive detail about the situation. We (Emerson, Kiara and Daph) want to thank you all for your donations made in helping us pay the legal fees for our defamation lawsuit. We feel so grateful for everyone's help and support during this time. Currently the lawsuit is still in progress and will proceed to go to trial which means we will need more funds to be able to afford our continuing lawyer fees which was not initially anticipated and calculated in the original goal. Therefore we have set a higher goal of 20K in order to pay these new and ongoing legal fees. As we have estimated the total costs being closer to 25k, we have also decided to prepare a fundraiser show in which the money will be directly go to our legal fund which will be announced soon. We are all self employed queer and trans artists, this is not something that we financially anticipated or are able to fund on our own. Due to our financial circumstances our lawyer has allowed us a grace period for payment, in order to fundraise. However, we do have an urgent fee of estimated 3000$ in June.
Again, if we end up with any extra or left over funds we will be redistributing it to Astteq, which is a local (Montreal) organization that aims to promote the health and well-being of trans people through peer support and advocacy, education and outreach, and community empowerment and mobilization. "We believe in the right to self-determine our gender identity and gender expression free from coercion, violence and discrimination. We advocate for access to health care that will meet the many needs of our diverse communities, while working collectively to build supportive, healthy and resilient communities."

We will all give an update when we do so.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated, even if you are unable to donate sharing is still a big help. We are eternally grateful for any help we receive and thank you immensely for your generosity!
