I’m raising money for Flatiron Elementary’s portion of legal fees for a school coalition working to oppose BVSD’s rushed school closure plan.
This plan would permanently close neighborhood schools and disrupt nearly 2,000 students academically, socially, and emotionally for minimal gain. It is also breaking apart communities and forcing parents and guardians into an impossible situation, because they are being asked to make decisions for their students based on an incomplete plan. No child should have to go through this twice.
Losing neighborhood schools also affects the broader community. Schools are civic infrastructure, and without them, large areas of Boulder may see fewer families wanting to live there, hurting neighborhood vitality and community connection.
The funds raised here will go toward legal costs to help oppose BVSD and support the coalition’s effort to stop this rushed decision before more damage is done.
This is urgent. Support is needed by 9/21/2026, before the 9/22 school board meeting when the board is expected to make this decision on permanently closing neighborhood schools.
If you care about protecting students, families, and school communities, please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser. Every contribution will help support the legal fight to push for better alternatives.
