Running a small business has its fair share of hurdles & daily challenges but vice versa there are also rewards surrounding the success you achieve from the work you put in daily. It is so rewarding when you receive positive feedback from clients it makes it all worthwhile continuing with the hurdles and challenges.
Like many businesses, over the last 12 months I have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and we survived through the worst of it but in October 2020 I was hit with a major blow from my bank. I was advised that they were intending to close all my business accounts and cease providing me financial services with no reason at all. I attempted multiple times to reach out and gain information pertaining to the decision the bank had made but to no avail.
It was then in November 2020, I received further correspondence from this bank advising that all my personal accounts, life insurances, income protection and Mortgage accounts would also be closed – all without a valid reason. This means I will not be able to receive financial services from them for the rest of my life, both as a business and personal customer. As the owner of a cash in transit company, I have undergone multiple background and criminal checks to enable me to hold the multiple licences to enable the company to trade and I maintain a law-abiding lifestyle, both in my personal life and as a business owner. I have never breached any policies that I am aware of in relation to the services this bank offers.
With over 25 accounts with this bank and having had a relationship with them for 29 years I have now engaged legal counsel to help me get answers. This obviously comes with a substantial cost and there is only so far a small business is able to fight which is why most of these financial institutions get away with treating customers and businesses like this.
The funds raised in my campaign will be used to assist with the legal costs associated with this battle I have against the bank and to make a stance against the bullying and intimidating behaviour these financial institutions are bestowing upon businesses and people like me with no factual justification.
I need funds urgently in order to help pay the continued legal costs associated with this fight. The goal is to block the bank from closing all my accounts - both business and personal and to allow me to continue to trade as normal with my small business.
The support received through this campaign will mean a lot to me and my family and give me the peace of mind that I can continue my fight for justice, and reasons as to why the bank is doing what it is against me and hopefully demonstrate that you can get justice for unfairness even from one of the country’s big 4 banks.
It will also reduce the stress, anxiety and concern about funds daily, especially given the current times and trends associated with small business and the pandemic.
I will pledge this guarantee that if as a result of the support I receive through this campaign and the funds raised should we be successful in our legal fight whereby we receive compensation I will donate the equivalent of funds raised to a charity close to my heart - Kidney Health Australia, having lost my father to renal failure over 8 years ago.
