Laura and Miguel have always worked hard and done everything possible to follow the process of becoming U.S. citizens. Despite this, they were detained by ICE, who claimed to be searching for someone else but decided to take them instead. This happened as they were leaving home to go to work as they own a business together and were stopped by five unmarked vehicles, even though they posed no threat and have lived in the US for over 30 years.

Laura and Miguel are loving parents to four children and proud grandparents to five grandchildren.
