I'm asking for your support to help fund sudden legal fees a disabled WOC academic single mom is facing.

 

After years of harassment and bullying -- making health problems so severe she had to take medical leave -- she has made a formal complaint. The resulting process is extremely stressful, and has quickly escalated: the "internal" process is being run by external lawyers instead of by an independent ombudsperson.

 

Bringing a complainant into meetings with attorneys who represent the university is intimidating, to say the least. She would like her own legal counsel present at these meetings, but the cost is currently prohibitive. She has found a good lawyer who specializes in employee-side cases, but she has to pay a retainer of $1500 ASAP, and there will be further costs depending on how long the process takes.
