My name is Stephanie Engstrom and I am seeking donations to help our friend and housekeeper for almost 8 years. I'm keeping her name private for legal reasons, but her husband, Jose, was detained recently from his job site on a construction project and removed to another state for deportation processing. They have four children, including a middle schooler and an elementary-age child with special needs. I sat in with Jose's wife on a Zoom meeting with an attorney who explained that since Jose has been in the country for over 10 years (he's been here since 2002), he has no criminal record, and he has a special needs child, he has a pretty strong case for Cancellation of Removal. Jose told his son over the phone that at his current out-of-state facility (a prison being used to temporarily house immigration detainees), he is cold all the time and surrounded by illness. Jose himself has chronic health issues and just recovered from a serious illness a few months ago. His family is desperate to see him again but they don't know when this can happen.
