I am raising funds to secure legal representation while facing a retaliatory lawsuit from a former employer, Lit On 8th.
I worked at this establishment for five years, including approximately three months under the current ownership. After leaving, I filed a legal claim for unpaid wages. That case was reviewed and decided in my favor. Shortly after winning that lawsuit, the owners accused me of stealing an amount of money that is not only false but impossible based on the bar’s actual revenue during that time period.
These accusations did not exist until after I publicly explained that I no longer worked there and why, and after I exercised my legal right to recover money that was owed to me. The timing and circumstances make it clear this is retaliation. The goal has not been resolution, but embarrassment and intimidation. The situation escalated publicly, including celebratory social media posts, reinforcing that this was meant to harm my name rather than uncover the truth.
I have never stolen from the bar. I have always worked and conducted myself with integrity. Anyone familiar with the business knows the figures being claimed do not align with reality.
Legal defense is expensive, and this is not something anyone plans for. I am asking for help to retain an attorney so I can properly defend myself, protect my reputation, and ensure the truth is fully presented in court.
