Legal Defense Fund for Elijah Machuca
Donation protected
Those who love and care about Elijah Machuca are raising funds to help in his legal defense. Despite having no criminal record at 22 years old, Eli is being held in the Baltimore County Detention Center with no public defender, no opportunity to post bail, and no end in sight to his incarceration.
About Elijah
Elijah was removed from his own home on October 27, 2020 with no history of violence toward anyone and without ever having been served a court summons. He has been wrongfully charged with assault, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest, when all who know him know that Eli believes in peace and nonviolence and lives his life as such.
On the first day of his freshman year of high school, Elijah was in the school cafeteria during the school shooting at Perry Hall High School. Eli ended up working on his schoolwork remotely and he graduated before the rest of his class in 2015. He is a loving son, a good friend, and a hard worker. Throughout the protests in Baltimore, Elijah found his voice for social justice and stood on the front lines as a peaceful protester. He met with the Mayor on several occasions and also served as a first aid responder to those who were being tear-gassed.
Please HELP!
We are asking for your financial help to hire an attorney to represent Elijah and get him out of the situation he finds himself in. He is a smart and loving young man and has a great future ahead of him. Please contribute whatever you are able to at this time, so we can secure his release from custody and enable him to move to Texas to get on with his hopes, dreams, and aspirations. Thank you for your contribution!
