URGENT CALL TO ACTION!
I NEED YOUR HELP URGENTLY TO HELP FIGHT A LEGAL BATTLE THAT COULD SET THE PRECEDENCE FOR ALL OF US.
On the 9th April 2016, we were refused entry to the Hervey Bay Beach House Hotel QLD after being granted permission weeks prior by a duty manager. The day before our scheduled meet for drinks the manager called to refuse our entry. His position was that we were not permitted into the venue as he didn’t want anything to do with our association, in fact he wouldn’t even allow us into the car-park. His statement to the media “the hotel does not want our business associated with Love Australia or Leave Party. I don’t think the majority of the Fraser Coast Community would welcome the party”, while the venues management told officials from the right-wing party, that they would not support a gathering at the Beach House Hotel because they did not agree with the party’s views.
I lodged a complaint to the Anti Discrimination Commission QLD that then progressed to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT). Our case will go before the Tribunal at QCAT in Brisbane at the end of October 2017.
To date, I have been representing myself as I was knocked back from being able to obtain legal aid. Usually there is no need for a solicitor at a Tribunal however, the respondents were granted permission for a solicitor and this has left us at an unfair disadvantage.
The funds that we require will help fund a solicitor who specialises in Anti Discrimination cases. We just want an even and fair playing field.
