Legal Assistance For Domestic Violence Survior and Children

On Oct 13th, 2024 my husband was removed from our home for domestic violence. This ended an 18 year marriage that was marred by abuse for years. I am raising funds to help retain an attorney for divorce proceedings, including custody in the best interests of our 5 children. I also will most likely need funds to move the children and I from our marital home into whatever I can find.

During our marriage, I worked numerous part time jobs as well as being the main, and often, sole care provider for our children. My husband was primarily an over the road driver, which meant I had to maintain all the home and childcare duties. As I did not pursue a career during our marriage, I am left with no resources other than my current job as a teacher's assistant, to rely on.

My husband has stated that he will never willing provide support in the event of a divorce, and I fully believe him. He is currently pushing to either sell our home immediately or allow it to proceed in foreclosure by not continuing with the Emergency Mortage Assistance Progam we were already working with.

I need a legal eye to help me navigate this horrid situation that I never dreamt I would find myself in.
