Hi everyone, my name is Raquel, and I’m reaching out during one of the hardest transitions of my life.

A few days ago, my two teenage sisters went through something no child should ever have to experience. Our mother was arrested for attacking them, and due to other circumstances our other parent is unable to take them in. They had no safe place to go—so I stepped in to take them out of an environment filled with years of extreme abuse of all types, and neglect from our mother- in attempt to make sure they’re protected, loved, and supported.

Right now, I am doing everything I can to keep them safe and stable, but the legal process is overwhelming and expensive. In order to secure their protection and ensure they have a voice in court, I need:

• $5,000 for an attorney to help me obtain the proper legal rights and custody protections

• Additional funds for a Guardian ad Litem, who will represent the girls’ best interests throughout the case

I am working hard to provide for them emotionally, physically, and financially, but the legal fees are more than I can handle alone. Any amount—big or small—helps move us closer to giving them the safe, stable life they deserve.
