Hi, my name is Kathleen and I am doing this fundraiser to help my selfless husband, Nick, get a lawyer to help file for a structured parenting agreement. Nick being the loving, caring individual that he is, has always worked hard to keep his daughter safe, even before she was born. Now he needs your help for another step towards that.

After using up all our savings on an emergency pet situation (cat broke his paw), and with strained financial capacity due to job changes, we are only able to go forward with a consultation and at this point won’t be able to keep a lawyer on retainer.

The lawyer consult is $400 and the retainer is about $10,000, and despite us both working two jobs (well Nick goes to school full time and works full time) we are unable to afford the retainer. Any funds raised will go entirely to the retainer and anything remaining will go to the recurring expenses Nick and I carry for our family (e.g., continued therapy for his daughter).

Previously, there was a loose (not formalized) parenting agreement but that is now hindering this precarious situation. Without a formal agreement in place, this will make the effort to keep Nick’s daughter safe, complicated. We want to do right by this young, bright, beautiful child, and having a lawyer work with us would provide that. Time is crucial as the situation continues to deteriorate, resulting in an immediate hardship for Nick’s daughter and our family.

We just need some help as many other expenses have drained us financially, including a very expensive journey to try to build on our family. We also don’t qualify for legal aid. Having this support will ensure Nick’s daughter has the safest and healthiest upbringing she can have.
