I'm seeking funds for legal defense after I was physically attacked by a neighbor and had a brick thrown at my head.

This dispute arose from my request for the neighbor to move a van that was illegally parked in the alley, blocking access to my garage. When I knocked on the door to request that the van be moved, the neighbor’s wife was extremely rude and disrespectful, and words were exchanged.

48 hours later, the husband accosted me and refused to leave me alone.

Even though I refused to engage with him, he and his wife escalated things to the point where he threw a chair at me and then hurled a brick at my head. Thankfully, he missed.

Despite my attempt to use pepper spray to discourage him, a physical scuffle ensued, and I was thrown to the ground and sustained injuries.

My neighbor is facing assault with a deadly weapon charge; however, I am also facing a misdemeanor charge for improperly using pepper spray while protecting myself from him and his wife.

I am raising funds to hopefully get the charges reduced or dismissed without the need to go to trial. In order to retain a competent attorney, a flat rate retainer is required.

I've been working the last few years as an independent handyman and do not have the means to retain an attorney. Time is of the essence and it is necessary for me to retain counsel in the next 10 days so that he can work with the DA to try to reduce charges before the charges are finalized.

Without direct intervention from an attorney, I will be facing potentially life-altering permanent consequences for actions I took while acting in self-defense. Please help if you can.
