Denise Pineda has been detained by ICE, along with her two daughters (minors), during her Immigration court hearing on 6/30 in Los Angeles.
Denise’s daughters are model students, one preparing to start her final year of high school while on honor roll and her youngest preparing for her last year of middle school. These young girls had legal permission from the juvenile court to live in the U.S. under Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), yet they were still detained alongside their mother because they couldn’t present an immigration visa on demand.
The truth is: they do have legal standing. But the immigration system is so backlogged and broken that families like Denise’s are punished for delays completely out of their control. This is yet another devastating example of a system that sets our immigrant families up to fail, even when they follow every step required of them.
Denise and her daughters need our help now more than ever. Funds raised will go directly toward securing their release, covering legal fees, and supporting them during this traumatic and uncertain time.

Denise Pineda fue detenida por ICE, junto con sus dos hijas menores de edad, durante su audiencia en la corte de inmigraicion el 30 de junio en Los Angeles.
Las hijas de Denise son estudiantes ejemplares: una se está preparando para comenzar su último año de preparatoria mientras mantiene su lugar en el cuadro de honor, y la menor se alista para su último año de secundaria. Estas jóvenes tenían permiso legal del tribunal de menores para vivir en Estados Unidos bajo el Estatus Especial de Inmigrante Juvenil (SIJS, por sus siglas en inglés), sin embargo, aún así fueron detenidas junto a su madre por no poder presentar una visa de inmigración al instante.
La verdad es que sí tienen un estatus legal. Pero el sistema de inmigración está tan saturado y roto que familias como la de Denise son castigadas por retrasos completamente fuera de su control. Este es otro ejemplo devastador de un sistema que pone a nuestras familias inmigrantes en una situación imposible, incluso cuando siguen cada paso que se les exige.
Denise y sus hijas necesitan nuestra ayuda ahora más que nunca. Los fondos recaudados se destinarán directamente a asegurar su liberación, cubrir los honorarios legales y apoyarlas durante este momento tan traumático e incierto.
