Legacy Trips

Donation protected
Legacy trips are 3 day antiracism trips visiting the National Memorial for Peace and Justice, the Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration in Montgomery, Alabama, & Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma. This special Legacy Trip is designed for Black women only, with a focus on having a space to reflect, share, explore, grieve, heal and celebrate together.

In June, we are hosting this special trip led Joquina Reed, a DEI consultant facilitator, researcher, learning strategist, and community advocate.

The vison of this particular trip (and raising money to fully fund this trip) is:

To protect Black women by having our own space...

Our own space to reflect and grieve, to be vulnerable and to heal, to celebrate and rejoice, unapologetically.

Our own space to strategize ways in which we can contribute to dismantling systemic racism in the United States.

Our own space to share our stories about how we got (and are getting free) and how we will help others get free.

Thank you to your contribution to helping us reach our $10,000 goal in honor and celebration of Black women healing and being in community with one another in a protected space.

We invite you to engage in this transformational experience as we delve into these courageous conversations with trip facilitator, Kina Reed.

"My name is Joquina Reed. But you all most definitely can call me Kina. By far one of the most important hats I wear in life is being a fabulous aunt to 8 nieces and nephews! In addition to being Nanny Kina, I am also a DEI consultant and facilitator, researcher, learning strategist, and community advocate. I also hold my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Communications.  Every day, I wake up committed to moving us all closer to the goal line of shared humanity. I often find my words feel limited by not speaking my fore-parents' tongue, but I still speak. I enjoy sticking my hand in soil to remind myself the universe is both bigger than I am and still enlarged by my acts. I’m constantly looking for opportunities to help others enlarge themselves and step out of the boxes they no longer fit. As a life-long learner and educator, I affirm the words of my great ancestor, Anna Julia Cooper, 'The cause of freedom is not the cause of a race or a sect, a party or a class - it is the cause of humankind, the very birthright of humanity.' Follow my projects the Anti Blackness Reader and Divesting from Whiteness to learn more!"

The cost for each participant is only $300 as we hope to cover the remaining balance of $600 through our fundraiser for the 10 Black women + the facilitation team who will attend.
