In the heart of Lian, Batangas, Philippines, Humayingan Elementary School stands as a beacon of learning for 169 bright students aged 5 to 12, guided by 7 dedicated teachers. For 22 years, this school has been nurturing young minds, teaching essential subjects like science, math, English, Filipino, music, arts, health, and more.

For almost three years, the school has been battling a persistent roof leak that was severely exacerbated during Typhoon Kristine in October 2024. The damage is not just structural—it's a direct threat to the children's ability to learn and grow in a safe environment, and they are in urgent need of repairs before the rainy season begins.

The Bigger Picture

Despite the school's critical needs, local government funding is extremely limited. With upcoming elections, funds have been frozen due to administrative restrictions, leaving the school with few resources to address the roof damage.

The repairs are planned during the students' vacation period in April and are estimated to take less than one month.

Beyond the roof repair, we're working towards full school accreditation. The parents of these children have been raising funds to improve facilities that will make this possible. With your help, we're one step closer to securing the quality education these children deserve for years to come.

Our Family’s Connection

This school holds a special place in our hearts. In 2009, two classrooms known as "The Little Red Schoolhouse" were built in honor of my uncle, Eric Carandang Sese, after his tragic death at the age of 35. Through a charity called Feed the Hungry, Inc., my grandmother Angelita Sese served as program director for infrastructure and helped raise donations from her son’s friends and family to create a lasting memorial that would benefit the children of Lian, Batangas.

The classroom that stands today is a living memorial to Eric— a testament to my family's love, a community's hope, and an ongoing commitment to education. By supporting this fundraiser, you're not just repairing a roof; you're helping to preserve a legacy of compassion and continuing our family's mission to support these children.

Donations will be routed to Humayingan Elementary School through Feed the Hungry, Inc., minus the GoFundMe platform fee. All funding beyond the estimated cost of roof repairs will be allocated to projects related to the school’s accreditation.
