Big Beautiful Bill Took My Loan, Still Fighting for my J.D.
Donation protected
Hey y’all, it’s me.
This isn’t easy for me to write, but I need help.
I’m starting law school full-time this fall. I’ve waited years for this moment. I put in the work, I got accepted, and I made the commitment. But just as everything was finally coming together, Congress passed a bill that took away a key part of the financial aid package I was counting on—the GradPLUS loan.
Without that loan, I’m left trying to figure out how to cover basic expenses while keeping up with the demands of law school. We’re talking about food, gas, rent, books, utilities, and everything else it takes to survive while pursuing a degree that requires your full focus and energy.
This bill didn’t hurt millionaires. It hurt people like me. Black women. Single parents. First-generation students. The ones already beating the odds just to get in the room. Now I’m being told to make it work with even less, when there was barely enough to begin with.
I’m not asking for luxuries. I’m asking for a fighting chance to make it through my first year without falling apart. If you believe in me, if you’ve ever rooted for me, if you’ve ever said “you got this,” now is the time.
Every donation helps. Every share matters. Every bit of support reminds me that I’m not in this alone.
Thank you for standing with me.
