Hello,
I am a teacher at a Granby High School, in Norfolk Virginia that is hoping to help a fellow staff member that is not only a co-worker but family. LeFaye Winn, a Paraprofessional, is currently battling Kidney Disease and has already underwent one procedure on her eyes and is getting ready for a kidney transplant after the new year. Ms. Winn is blessed to have medical insurance through her job that helps with the cost of these procedures and the medication that she is required to take, but unfortunately is it not enough. The cost of the medication is already piling up. The average cost of the medication that is required for transplant patients can run between $550 -$800 a month over what the insurance pays. Some of these medications Ms. Winn will need to take for the rest of her life. The money raised here will go to paying for the cost of Ms. Winn's medications, those that she is currently prescribed and what she will be required to continue to take during her treatment. With all the challenges that Ms. Winn has ahead of her she is the shining light of perseverance. Ms. Winn has not let this disease slow her down. She comes to work every day, working with students with intellectual disabilities in the community, helping them learn job skills as well as she works with them in the classroom to improve their basic academic skills so that they can be successful after graduation. Ms. Winn is very active in her church and with her family. She is truly an amazing lady that continues to touch the lives of those around her. I believe I can speak for those that have been blessed to know her and work with her that providing her with a little financial relief would be wonderful. It would allow her the opportunity to focus on those things in life that are so much more important... watching her children and grandbabies grow.
