Our daughter Leesa had a car accident in 2008 in which she was rear-ended by a man who had been drinking. On top of this he was driving a car that didn’t belong to him and neither he nor the owner of the car had insurance. Therefore Leesa’s medical expenses were only covered by the medical coverage she had on her Auto Policy. This accident left Leesa with back and neck injuries. She has been unable to work since this accident and her back problems have gotten progressively worse to the point of needing the assistance of a walker and wheel chair for several years now. The week before Christmas, she was taken to the hospital again because three of her protruding disks had shifted further. The resulting nerve impingement has left Leesa with more numbness to her right leg further impeding her mobility.
She met with her surgeon for a follow up after her hospital visit and was told that back surgery has become a necessity that cannot wait any longer.
Leesa has looked into all the options and gotten second, third and forth opinions. What sounds the most promising to her and her family is a new appliance that has been recently released to the orthopedic field for use in these types of situations. The medical costs that will come with Leesa’s surgery will not be easy to manage, especially for a one-income family. While her medical insurance covers a portion of the expenses, she and her husband will not be able to mange the remaining cost of this surgery and resulting months of rehabilitation on their own.
As her parents we have set up this “Go Fund Me” account to try to raise the money that is needed for Leesa to be able to have the surgery she needs. We would be extremely grateful if you would be willing to help give her back some piece of her independence that was taken from her almost 8 years ago.
God’s Blessings and Thank You Again!
