Lee’s Top Surgery Fundraiser!
Hi all! If you’re visiting this page you probably know Lee. And if you know Lee, you know they are magnetic, kind, and truly bring joy to those around them. I haven’t seen many things dim that joy, but over the five years we’ve been dating I have watched as they struggle daily with gender dysphoria.
Gender dysphoria by definition means “a condition where a person experiences discomfort or distress because there's a mismatch between their biological sex and gender identity”. For Lee, it has meant struggling to leave the house most days and an inability to be around others unless wearing 2 very constructing binders. A binder is a compression garment used to create the appearance of a flatter chest. This can cause chest and back pain, respiratory problems, and permanent scarring and tissue damage - all of which Lee has.
Luckily, the medical community has figured out how to treat gender dysphoria. It can be treated with top surgery, a surgery performed to remove breast tissue and therefore create a more masculine chest appearance. I want to help alleviate all of Lee’s physical symptoms but mostly I want to see them feel connected to their body and happy and I want to help end the daily struggle I’ve watched
over the past 5 years.
We will be traveling to San Francisco on 01/30
for the surgery and the money will help
cover surgical expenses not covered by insurance and travel and lodging for the week. If you have any further questions about anything you’ve read, don’t hesitate to reach out to me! Please donate whatever you are able to, even just sharing this page will help! Thank you - love you all!!!
